Children
Sealants Sealants are thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth where decay occurs most often. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the teeth from plaque and acid. Why are sealants necessary? When the teeth are developing, depressions and grooves form in the chewing surfaces of the enamel. These features are called pits and fissures. They are impossible to keep clean, because the bristles of a toothbrush cannot reach into them. Therefore, pits and fissures are snug places for plaque and bits of food to hide. By forming a thin covering over the pits and fissures, sealants keep out plaque and food, and thus decrease the risk of decay. Pre-Orthodontics For children, proper bone and tooth development tend to be interfered with thumb sucking, lip biting, and breathing through the mouth instead of the nose. Therefore pre-orthodontics like removable, functional appliances can be used to help retrain child’s oral habits. If children are treated with pre-orthodontics when they’re young, that may prevent further problems as adults, saving lots of time and money as well. We treat not just your teeth, but to work with your skeletal to creat a balance, symmetrical smile before it is too late.

Tongue spurs Thumb crib Myofunctional Therapy Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD) tends to occur among young children, commonly referred to as "tongue thrust" – the tongue pressing against or between the front or side teeth during swallowing instead of lifting up and brushing the roof of the mouth (palate). Myofunctional therapy involves an individualized program of oral and facial muscle exercises to correct this disorder. This will lead to malocclusion, an open bite, and lisping on their speech. Call us for a consultation on how we can help your child.
